C Lakkotrypis leverages our geostrategic role

Nicosia : Creating onshore gas liquefaction terminal at the Royal remains at the heart of government policy for exploitation of natural gas, says Energy Minister George Lakkotrypis to add that not removed the need for plan A, B and C. Prerequisite to viable and competitive internationally is finding additional quantities of natural gas from the Cypriot deposits. Hence the accelerated drilling ENI / KOGAS. Minister O underlines that as a country should not lose the essence or "the ball out of sight" and the substance is per se hydrocarbons. Highlights the enhanced geo-strategic role of Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean and notes that the Government is working to ensure that the Republic of Cyprus to play in the role that geography and geology offers in our country. Has the importance of the report by Mr Lakkotrypi in the U.S. and that Washington looked forward to the role of hydrocarbons for prosperity, stability and peace in the Eastern Mediterranean. following is an excerpt from the interview of the Minister: -There is the impression that we keep last small basket for the construction of the terminal. Although submitted to contest this option, the last sentence seems to be considered when other options ... -General in regard to the hydrocarbon sector, we are obliged to say as little basket. The international practice and our experience of the deposit Venus, require moderate maintain our optimism. Offshore oil drilling in extremely deep waters, as the Cypriot EEZ, containing large uncertainties reflected in the clearest manner the confirmation of the deposit Venus, which despite the fact that it is a major world-class deposit, however, did not reveal the original estimates of the first drilling. So if the necessary infrastructure for the operation of VAT, as a state must be ready for all eventualities. H creation of terrestrial gas liquefaction terminal at the Royal remains at the heart of our strategy for exploitation of our natural gas, but at the same time, we have Plan A, B and C. We must all realize that this is a huge investment, the greater the history of the Republic. This caliber investment decisions are implemented only when all necessary conditions, otherwise there is a risk mortgaging the future of generations to come, since the sizes are such that they can fail the state as some of the companies involved in the Cypriot EEZ. Prerequisite to the terminal of Cyprus must be sustainable and internationally competitive, is to find additional quantities of natural gas from our own mines. It is for this reason that was currently in a race in order to begin exploratory drilling consortium of ENI / KOGAS few months earlier than originally scheduled. At this point I must say that from the first day of taking office, the government have become and are becoming too much for the promotion of onshore liquefaction terminal. Through an international tender proceeded to hire specialized consultants appointed negotiating team and proceeded largely negotiations with the consortium of Item 12. Parallel not started the dialogue with companies operating in the other five licensed pieces, exchanging opinions and positions regarding the key aspects of the terminal. Our goal is to develop a framework for the development and operation of onshore terminal, which takes into account the whole richness of Cyprus and parameters associated with deposits of neighboring states. entire interview published Sunday in Liberal - See more at: http://www.philenews.com/el-gr/oikonomia-kypros/146/210331/g-lakkotrypis-axiopoioume-to-geostratigiko-mas-rolo#sthash.64ZC2Gt0.dpuf
